CHILDREN’S EVENTS

Field Trips and Outings

On Saturdays throughout the summer, FFCF organizes special field trips to destinations such as, LEGOLAND, Busch Gardens and other theme parks, plus outings to experience Wakeboarding and other water sports and adventures.

FFCF is always looking for special volunteers to commit to an adventure for the day to help “Chaperone” the children. These are wonderful opportunities to directly participate in activities with the children and make a day of wonderful memories for these children in need.

Back to School Fair

Sponsored by Arthrex, in 2014, FFCF launched the Annual Back to School Fair at the Golden Gate Community Center.

This has become an annual, community-wide collaboration ensuring all foster children in our community are fully equipped and ready to start their first day of school. In 2015, 350 foster children and their siblings were fitted out with new school uniforms, new shoes, prescription glasses, books, haircuts, backpacks, loaded with all schools supplies and signed up for tutoring and afterschool activities.

Gift of Giving

Sponsored by Germain Motor Company, this Holiday shopping opportunity for foster children is now in its 16th year. Organized by Friends of Foster Children Forever (FFCF) this event engages over one hundred volunteers and Germain employees as shopping mentors.

Each child had a list of individuals they wanted to purchase gifts for — The volunteers help them with their budget and shopping lists. Some children labor over just the right selection, while others know exactly what they wanted to buy to bring smiles to the faces of those important in their lives.

Germain’s support allows children between the ages of five and 18 to have $100 each to shop for those closest to them, including parents, siblings, caregivers, friends or teachers. And as a bonus, each child is given an additional $25 to purchase something for themselves. After a morning  of holiday shopping, the children are provided lunch and begin to gift wrap.

Lynn’s Picnic

Sponsored by First Florida Integrity Bank, on a Saturday in fall, Collier County foster children and their caregivers are invited to attend the annual Lynn’s Picnic at Cambier Park in Naples. Lynn’s Picnic is in honor of the late Lynn Schultzel, the co-founder of FFCF.

The purpose of Lynn’s Picnic is to provide an old-fashioned, relaxing picnic where foster families, foster children and their siblings can unite in a fun and safe atmosphere.  The children can also sign up for after school activities funded by the Naples Children & Education Foundation. The stage is used for live demonstrations of dance, martial arts, music, sports and other activities to engage the children. Other fun things include a bounce house, inflatable slide, cotton candy, popcorn, a makeup artist for teenage girls, face painters, a balloon-making pirate.
